My 24 years old boyfriend gave up his dream of having kids for me

I was married at 19, and we lasted until I was 33. Still best friends and wonderful co-parents, it just didn’t work as a married couple. I’ve always, always been into older men, but 2 years ago, a younger guy approached me. He was 24, and after turning him down so many times, I finally gave him a chance. For real, just the most fun I think I’ve ever had. We both agreed it was just going to be fun and we weren’t monogamous, but it became more serious than we anticipated.

He decided he was willing to give up his dream of having kids (because I definitely do not want that, and I don’t even really want to get married again). He wanted to be serious and monogamous. Maybe even get married someday. I cut things off because I know deep down he wants things I don’t want anymore, but that was more than 5 months ago, and I can’t help but think about him daily.

Did I make a mistake? Or is it that thing where, even though it’s the right choice, it still sucks? I miss everything about him all the time, but I also don’t want him to miss out on those things I know he does want. I still don’t want anything serious, and I know he does.~ Anonymous

Question: Did I make a mistake?

1: Yes, go back to him

2: No, right choice, just still tough
