My best friend and I have known each other since childhood. Unlike me, he has always been overweight, so I convinced him to come and do sports with me. There, we met a girl. She was nice to us, and we formed a group of three to do sports. After 6 months, my friend started having feelings for her. I told him it was good, but the best thing was to wait a bit. It was not the right time since she had just lost her father. She needed us as friends, not a boyfriend.
He called me jealous, saying I envied him because he was getting better-looking than me, so I didn’t want to get involved. Some time later, I noticed that the two seemed cold. I asked my friend what the problem was. He said that he had confessed his feelings to the girl, but she ghosted him because he’s too nice and women like toxic men, not nice guys like him. So I suggested to my friend that we change gyms. For 2 months, my friend repeated this everywhere.
Today, he claims to be a motivator on social networks and always brings up this story as an example to motivate young boys to do sport and give them advice about girls. By chance, one day I saw the girl again at a party, and we talked. I asked her why she had been so mean to my friend. She asked me to give her my phone number. The same night, she showed me screenshots of her conversations with my friend, where he spoke to her badly and went so far as to harass her.
He had inappropriate remarks, being sexist, and once sent her a picture of his penis. The girl sent me everything. Since then, I can no longer look my friend in the eyes. At first, I couldn’t accept that. For me, it couldn’t be him.
Question: What should I do?
1. Confronting him with the truth?
2. Talk to his parents about it?
