I met a guy on a matrimonial app, and after talking on the phone a few times, we instantly clicked. He was open about his complicated past, and I appreciated his honesty. Soon, we decided to meet in person, and I felt a strong connection with him. We decided to start dating so we could get to know each other better.
However, soon after, he lost his job and had to move back to his hometown. Throughout that time, I supported him emotionally while he searched for a new job. Despite my parents urging me to move on and consider other matches, I chose to stand by him, believing we deserved more time to see where things would go. After several months, he finally secured a new job and relocated to a different city.
I felt hopeful and saw this as a new beginning for us. I asked him what he thought about our future and whether he wanted to take things forward. He reassured me that he loved me deeply and couldn’t imagine marrying anyone else. But despite his words, he kept delaying the meeting between our parents, citing various reasons.
One of the main reasons he gave was that his sister was going through a difficult divorce, and he didn’t want to add more pressure on his family at the time. My parents were concerned by his constant postponing and urged me to move on, but after investing eight months in the relationship, I couldn’t walk away so easily. Eventually, I confronted him and suggested a breakup.
He broke down, begged me to stay, and even spoke to my parents, promising them that he wanted to marry me. His emotional plea convinced my family, and we all started preparing for the wedding. Then, everything changed. One day, I discovered inappropriate messages on his phone from another woman his ex.
To my shock, I found out he had been leading her on this entire time, promising her marriage as well. He had even asked her to elope with him while begging me to stay and convincing my family of his sincerity. What hurt even more was that his family knew about this and did nothing to stop him.
I feel completely shattered and betrayed. I’ve lost trust not only in him but in the whole idea of marriage. I’m heartbroken, confused, and struggling to understand how to move forward.
