Once upon a time, a girl came into a boy’s life unexpectedly. It seemed casual at first just two people crossing paths. But as time passed, their connection grew stronger. The boy found himself drawn to her in ways he hadn’t felt before. He gave her everything he could his time, his attention, his affection and in return, he experienced the kind of love that felt almost too good to be true.
It wasn’t just the love that changed him. Before she came along, he had always been distant, a bit rude, and even arrogant at times. He wasn’t the kind of person who opened up easily. But she was different. She showed him a kind of love he’d never experienced. She taught him what love could be how it should be expressed. For her, he changed. He softened, became more open, more caring.
He wasn’t the same person anymore. For a while, everything seemed perfect. The more time they spent together, the more he felt that he had found something real. But slowly, things started to change. She began to pull away. At first, it was hard to notice. She seemed busy, distracted. The boy told himself it was nothing just life getting in the way.
But the distance grew. Maybe it was something from her past, some hurt she hadn’t healed from. Maybe she was afraid it would happen again. Whatever it was, she started creating space between them. The boy, clueless, kept hoping she would come back. He waited for things to go back to how they were, not realizing that she was building a wall he wasn’t allowed to cross anymore.
Every time he thought of telling her how he felt, he stopped himself. He was scared of ruining whatever little connection they had left. So, he stayed quiet, hoping she would understand without him having to say it out loud. But one day, when he couldn’t hold it in any longer, she said the words he feared the most: “Don’t expect anything more. Let’s just be friends.”
Her words hit him hard. He didn’t know if she was pretending not to notice his love or if she really couldn’t see it. He couldn’t sleep at night, his mind filled with memories of their time together. He wondered what went wrong. Was it something he did? Was he too shy, too afraid to express his feelings earlier? Or was it wrong to love someone so deeply?
She had been the one to show him how to love, to make him believe in it. And now, the very thing that had brought them closer seemed to push her away. He had changed for her. But now, it felt like she had grown bored of him, like his efforts didn’t matter anymore.
He didn’t understand why she couldn’t see how much he cared, how happy he was when he was with her, or how much he celebrated her successes. What was his mistake? Was it wrong to ask for the same love in return? Was it too much to expect?
In the end, he was left with these questions. Is it wrong to love deeply? Is it a mistake to expect something in return? Or should love be given without any expectations? He didn’t know. All he knew was that he loved her, and that love had changed him in ways he never thought possible.
